Daniel Joseph Fitzpatrick

The Fitzpatrick family has been in the construction business for three generations.   Firmly rooted in the close knit Rochester, Minnesota community, the Fitzpatrick’s are best known for earth moving, building infrastructure and new developments.

By 1990, at 25 years of age, Dan was the supervisor for four underground and grading crews and responsible for millions of dollars of development improvements, equipment and dozens of employees. During this period, Dan was responsible for a substantial amount of the infrastructure improvements in the residential “boom” in Rochester.

In 1993, Dan devised a way to construct new water main in front of two Mayo Clinic 14 story buildings without shutting their water supply off. Dan created a temporary hose-over and pressure relief system using fire hydrants and fire hoses running through the subway system. Dan’s ability to think outside the box was recognized by Rochescter Public Utilities Water Department, where he was recruited to implement its construction division in 1994.

Upon successful implementation of the construction division of “RPU”, Dan was promoted to lead distribution worker in 1996, Dan obtained his Class B water purveyor license and was promoted to water operator in 1997 where he was accountable for the entire Rochester water system (population 100,000).

In 1998, Dan decided to leave the public utility trade and apply his gathered knowledge and experience towards land development and custom home building. At the age of 33, Dan started his first subdivision development, River Ridge. By 1999 and 2001, Dan received the Parade of Homes Award for 1st place in the coveted Division One category including the top level of custom built homes.

By 2001, Dan had created seven high-end custom home developments in the Rochester suburbs. Dan achieved this goal by buying the raw property, gaining zoning approval, obtaining his own heavy equipment to build the infrastructure, and a creating a company to build award winning homes.

Dan’s success led to expansion and diversification. In 2002, Dan entered into mortgage and title services through his acquisition of HomStar USA Real Estate services of Rochester.  He further diversified into the Destin, Florida real estate market.

In 2002, Dan established Star Real Estate Group LLC, a Florida LLC.  “Star” specialized in preconstruction condominium sales. By 2004, “Star” had contracted over 700 million in preconstruction sales, with developments expanding from Baton Rouge, LA, east along the Gulf Coast to Panama City Fl.  In addition to the contracted sales, Dan was a principle with the development of a 24,000 square foot Class A office park, “Star Office Park”; Sugar Sands Estates, a 40 lot beach house subdivision; Beach Pointe Condominiums, 2.5 million to 3.5 million per unit exclusive condominium project; and related rental property and multimillion dollar spec houses.

During this period, Dan oversaw the construction and sale of an additional five custom home subdivisions in the Rochester and Oronoco, MN area.

When Dan began development in Oronoco, it was the largest municipality in Minnesota without a public water and sewer system. Dan’s developments, and various custom home building companies, increased the population of Oronoco from 580 to 1175, doubled the per capita house value from 119,000 to 240,000, quadrupled its tax levy, (allowing it to blacktop its roads) and provided The City of Oronoco with a $300,000.00 municipal well.

In 2005, Dan was voted as one of the top 10 business people in south eastern Minnesota under 40 years of age by accepting The Rochester Post Bulletin “10 under 40” award.

When the real estate crash hit, Dan continued to build and diversified outside of the Rochester market by rehabilitating rental units in Minneapolis, and procuring the entitlements for the construction of 1400 permanent housing units in the North Dakota Bakken Oil fields.

Now that his home town real estate market is back, Dan is excited to offer his River Ridge IV development and latest custom home build. Both exhibit the quality and class associated with his 20 plus year proven construction history
